The Wessex Autistic Society

The Wessex Autistic Society

The Society aims to ensure that children and young people with autism and related conditions, and their carers, receive appropriate education, care, support and development services. It serves over 180 people with autism and 500 parents and carers annually.

The Society operates a residential/day school for children aged between 3-19; respite care for children and families, support groups and an information and advice service.

The Wessex Youth Trust's donations have gone towards funding the refurbishment of Portfield School, in particular the provision of new equipment for the playground and boarding house playroom.

"The ongoing support of the Trust has been invaluable in enabling the Society to continue improving the facilities we offer children with autism at our school. The children love the new play equipment which is helping them develop their social and communication skills."
